Farm & Farmers

laura
Laura Meister: Farmer/ Owner

Laura worked part-time at small farms all over New England with her farm-dog-in-training, Emma Bean, before founding Farm Girl Farm, which she works with an amazing crew of farmgirls and farmboys. She is also co-producer of local cult classic documentary Sweet Soil: Local Farmers and the Berkshire Coop Market. Farm Girl Farm used to be in North Egremont but we now grow some of our produce in fields owned by Equinox Farm, as well as land close by. Along with our CSA, we sell a large portion of our yield to local restaurants and markets.

Hannah, born in California and raised in Lakeville, CT, has lived in the Berkshires for five years. She majored in photography at Simon’s Rock College of Bard and graduated with a BA in Liberal Arts. Hannah stumbled upon farming when she was working in the food service industry. Having enjoyed Farm Girl veggies so much at work, she decided to trade her job indoors to work in the sun growing fresh veggies. She is also a self-taught cook who is currently compiling recipes and her own photographs for a cookbook. Find her recipes on the soon to come recipe page!

Farm Dogs!

Farm dogs Ollie and Bowie are essential members of our team. If you stop by our farm, you’re sure to meet at least one of them. Ollie is a sweetie but he can get a little anxious around strangers. Its best to ignore him and let him get to know you from a distance. Bowie, on the other hand, will come right up to you and probably try to lick you all over. He’s still a puppy and definitely acts like one!
